Good Directions Through the Eyes of an Experienced Support Worker
"I just wanted to take a moment to express how impressed I am with the care and support provided at Good Directions service. I've worked in the disability sector for over eight years in a variety of settings, including single and multiple-client homes, as well as day option programs through an agency that supported multiple disability providers. In just three weeks of working here, I can honestly say this is the best-run disability house I've ever been part of.
The level of care and support he receives is outstanding. He has multiple complex medical needs, including epilepsy, cerebral palsy, dystonia, and respiratory issues-just to name a few. He requires PEG feeding, full incontinence management, and full assistance with mobility and daily tasks, needing constant hand-over-hand support. Despite his high needs, the way this team works together ensures he gets the best possible care at all times.
What really makes this house stand out is not just the level of care for the client, but also the support for staff. The management team is incredibly thoughtful when it comes to rostering, making sure shifts are fair and that staff have a good work-life balance. This makes a huge difference because well-rested and happy staff means better care for the client.
I've worked in a lot of different disability support environments, and this house truly sets the standard for how things should be run. I really hope this service continues because it provides an incredible level of care that you just don't see everywhere."
