Good Directions supports participant-owned disability services.

A participant-owned service is the purest form of person-centred service and Good Directions looks to support clients in managing their own service.

Rather than ask someone else before you spend your own funding package – why not have a bank account in your own name?

Good Directions will tailor a structure to suit your circumstances, and has a team of mainstream professionals who will assist with accommodation, payroll, tax, legal, medical, recruiting home care and reporting.

Good Directions offers a comprehensive service and tailors our service using a specialist person-centred support plan called PATH, developed by the Centre for Disability Studies, Sydney University. This provides a cutting edge personal plan which serves as a referral to any number of international experts who are associated with the Centre.

A key focus of Good Directions is to encourage and facilitate the use of mainstream services and social interaction.

Good Directions staff recently set up three 11 & 12 year old boys with severe autism in a participant-owned service. With great support from their parents, siblings and mainstream businesses they signed their own lease, employed their own staff, purchased their own furniture, transport and have a support structure that Good Directions believes is an Australian first.

Another client has an acquired brain injury and lives at home. All her supports are provided using a specially set up Not-for-Profit private company. Her ‘circle of support’ manages & owns every part of her service - with Good Directions providing experienced management and industry support.

With over 20 accommodation options and innovative use of technology, Good Directions puts in place a framework of ‘supported independence’ that matches your culture & values.

Good Directions has another unique service offering - as far as we know - in that we facilitate clients receiving the NDIS funds usually attributable to Service Providers overheads freeing them from the restrictions of NDIS cluster categories. These are then available to support our clients with rent, food and other personal costs.

Enjoy looking through Good Directions website and imagining the difference a participant-owned service would make to your life.
